If you are using Tableau 9 or upper version then you can connect Tableau with SAS (*.sas7bdat) file directly with Tableau. Start Tableau and under Connect, select Statistical File, select the file that you want to connect to, and then select Open. I don't have any whitepaper but you can check out following link: Statistical File
Thanks for the reply.
I'm not looking to connect to a .sas7bdat file. It needs to be a direct connection via ODBC and something about SAS/SHARE. I've found some guidelines in some of the discussions, but I need an official white paper.
Justin, I'm sure you know about these links:
but I don't see anything "official" like a whitepaper anywhere either. That second download link makes it clear that this is a generic ODBC driver, not Tableau-specific.
This slide deck is from 2012 but might be useful: SAS/Tableau integration
And the first comment on this old thread seems pertinent: Known limitations of Tableau when integrating with SAS dataset
Thanks Michael, I'm coming to realize I may need to wait for a white paper to come out eventually. In the mean time I'll try consolidate what I do know.
