Did you try Automatic? Is there a reason why you chose 'Range' and not 'Automatic'?.
In my case, 'Automatic' does not server well always, because, email subscriptions would not come out neat. Sometimes, Views would be squashed together. or when viewed on smaller devices or devices with lower resolution, it would be squashed then too. We had to go with Range Resolution because we wanted to control the lower limit and upper limit. At the time of development we make sure lower limit, every thing looks good too. Scroll bar is really a good thing, which preserves the integrity of view (trust me, you don't want to see your view squashed).
I did try automatic, but that doesn't quite work for what I need. I use range to set the minimum size that my dashboard still looks good/functions. Maybe I am missing Tableau's logic, but if my screen size is bigger than the minimum, I would expect to behave just like automatic. However, it is expanding my dashboard way too much and inputting scroll bars.
I don't quite follow the idea of seeing scroll bars when your view is stretched out. Scroll bars appear, when view is to be shown in a smaller real estate. May I ask if charts/views themselves are left as fit entire view, or standard or fit width/height? Any chart left at Standard view, is known to bring in scroll bar.
