Thanks Mark. I still want to display the subtotals to the user though...
I found this old thread >> How to remove default text from action filter but there isn't an answer nor can I find the idea the OP created.
What I have found so far -
- I don't think the box is a tooltip. Why? If I turn tooltips off it still appears.
- It appears only on user selection - you have to click Region
- Putting the sheet on a dashboard doesn't help
- I don't even know what its called?!
I'll ask amongst the ambassadors for you, see if anyone knows.

I'm not sure this is the official name, but there were several threads that called it something like uber-tooltips. The only change you can make to the type of tooltip is to show/hide command buttons. This change is set in the regular tooltip dialog box and will then affect all tooltips. There has been an Idea around for several years to give us access to these uber-tooltips, or at least let us turn them on/off (while still keeping regular tooltips). Someday....
Thank you Shawn
Aaron Mackey It appears that its not currently possible to turn off this 'uber-tooltip' (whatever it maybe called)
Hi Kettan/ Shawn
This is tricky because of the definition...
Shawn's link is useful but its the last comment (Jerry's) which is most pertinent... the tooltip/ command buttons/ and this uber tooltip get mixed around.
The idea - I don't understand what's released... Andy's original issue was a bug regarding the command buttons appearing even though they were meant to be disabled - a security hole as he calls it. Then there's support's email - bit in green about command buttons, bit in blue - maybe about the uber tooltips - seen in the screenshot further down
this is from Andy's site/ dashboard and the thing we want to try and disable...
I assume the release part was related to the security hole and not the uber tooltips?!
I will create a new idea... what are we calling the items selected/subtotal/ uber tooltip box?
I couldn't find a posted solution to this so I'm hoping what I post here isn't redundant.
I encountered the same problem and have a partial solution.
Whenever a user selected a group of cities on a map it would sum up the data in a way that I didn't want it to be summed.
Here was my fix:
- Click on the Tooltip button in the Marks menu.
- Uncheck the box "Include command buttons".
Pro: The aggregation (summing/counting) goes away.
Con: You also lose the menus that appear when you hover over the selected data points in the map (Keep Only, Exclude, Group Members, Create Set, View Data...).
