# Dashboard design - How to remake the design

Hello,

I was watching a video on YouTube, and came across a visualization of the charts in tableau dashboard.

However, I am not able to locate any instructions on how to remake the visualization. I was looking for the instructions on creating the border and associating the Title as shown in the picture.

Have attached the snapshot, can anyone please point me to the instruction steps.

thanks,

Ranjit

Hello ranjit,

There could be various ways of creating this output,

Mine is attached.

Please have a look at it and feel free to ask if there's anything unclear.

Hello Chen,

thanks for your response, but I somehow not able to locate the steps or procedure that you worked on to make the chart.

Could you please guide me how to create this.

Thanks,

Ranjit

Hello RANJIT,

Sure.

After connected to the superstore excel,

1. create 5 calculated fields

2013 Profit calculates total profit of 2013

SUM(IIF(YEAR([Order Date])=2013,[Profit],0))

2014 Profit calculates total profit of 2014

SUM(IIF(YEAR([Order Date])=2014,[Profit],0))

Y/Y variance calculates the difference

[2014 Profit]-[2013 Profit]

flag indicates if profit declines

IIF([Y/Y variance]<0,"●","")

Sub-Category (copy), a copy of Sub-Category

2. select 2013 Profit, 2014 Profit, Y/Y variance, Sub-Category and Sub-Category (copy), select "text table" from show me menu (the left top one),

and you'll get this.

3. drag and drop flag onto rows shelf as follows.

and you'll get,

4. uncheck "show header" for Sub-Category (copy) .

and you'll get,

5. modify format for flag

6. right click any row label and select "hide field labels for rows"

and you'll get,

The next steps are about dashboard.

Please first have a try at the above steps and see if there is anything unclear.

Regards

Hello ranjit,

Then I'd like to continue with the dashboard part.

Blank objects are used to adjust the layout.

A vertical object is used to draw the border line.

A text object is used to show the title.

Regards.
