# Aligning Table Calculations Next to Dimensions

Hello,

I'm trying to show Quarterly and Yearly % Change across products with measure values listed vertically. Would also like to add positive and negative colors/shapes. See example tables below.

Essentially, the table calculations for the measures need to be adjacent to the dimensions rather than the measures.

Example 1

Product A

(Dimension 1)

Q/Q

(Table Calc)

Y/Y

(Table Calc)

Product B

(Dimension 2)

Q/Q

(Table Calc)

Y/Y

(Table Calc)

Revenues

(Measure 1)

\$100,000 -10% 5%\$500,000 -1.5% -3.5%

Margin

(Measure 2)

5% 5% -3%8% 8% -3%

Quantity Sold

(Measure 3)

50,000 2% 7%100,000 -5.5% 2.4%

Or transposed as below:

Example 2

Revenues

(Measure 1)

Margin

(Measure 2)

Quantity Sold

(Measure 3)

Product A

(Dimension 1)

\$100,000......

Q/Q

(Table Calc)

-10%......

Y/Y

(Table Calc)

5%......

Product B

(Dimension 2)

\$500,000......

Q/Q

(Table Calc)

-1.5%......

Y/Y

(Table Calc)

-3.5%......

Many thanks for any input or insights!

This type of formatting is likely not going to be possible with a single view. If you could post a sample workbook with how far you've gotten, I'd be happy to see if I can help you along.

Hi Dan,

I didn't think it was possible, but thought I would give the forum a try.

Attached is a Sample Super Store worksheet, showing the furthest I can get. I can get QoQ and YoY to align next to measures (e.g. Sales/Profit) but not dimensions (e.g. Furniture/Office Supplies/Technology). It would also be ideal to get a Green/Red Triangle next to each QoQ/YoY value to represent an increase/decrease; if not a shape, then colored text for positive/negative values would be second best.

I figure if Excel can do it then so can Tableau, just in a round about way...
