# How to have percent of total table across and also have percent of total for each entry.

As seen in above image, I have three things to be accomplished on stacked bar charts.

On stacked bar charts, I want

1) for all applications table across, % of total data usage i.e. ([Total MB] / Window_Sum([Total MB])).  So for example, for youtube it should say it is 45% of all the data usage reported across all apps.  My formula is able to calculate this properly and data usage for all

3) as it can see My axis adds up to 100%.  What I want is the axis to show % of total data usage. i.e. for youtube the bar should be 45% high and not 100%.

End result should like this but each bar should show proportion of download bytes and upload bytes.

How to accomplish this?

I hope I understand the request correctly.

In this case you don't necessarily to create new formula, instead, you can use table calc.

Thanks,

Shin

Thanks for responding.  Ship mode in your case is a dimension.  I want to split my each bar in % percent total of "total download bytes" and "total upload bytes" and they both are measures and not dimension.  So I can't really add them to color

• ###### 3. Re: How to have percent of total table across and also have percent of total for each entry.

As seen in figure, My first bar (application) constitutes of 44.8% of total data usage across all applications.  In that 44.8% of data usage, 98% is download bytes and 2% is upload bytes.

The only issue now I have is to have my axis in respect to % of total data usage.  i.e. first bar should be 44.8% high.

Still not pretty clear, but are you saying keeping height as % of total and label as % of each bar?

Thanks,

Shin

Hey Shin,

How would you accomplish that if you had to color using say two measures instead of the dimension (Ship Mode)?  That's what I am trying to achieve.  Basically I want to color and label based on two calculated fields and not using a dimension like you did using Ship Mode.

Hope I am more clear this time.

Thanks.

Hi Shin,

I have pulled a package workbook with a portion of my data for making it more clear and concise.

I am trying to accomplish this:

1. Columns should be my application names.
2. row should be a bar of height - % of Total Data Usage Reported along all apps.  So for this particular data set, Bar for Youtube should be 44.8% high along the axis.  As you can see I have already pulled this together for you.
3. STEPS STILL NOT ACCOMPLISHED:  Now for each of those bars, I want to have a stacked bar chart showing % of Download bytes in those 44.8% data usage and % of Upload bytes in those 44.8% data usage for youtube app.  So my bars will still be 44.8% high but will have 98% download bytes and 2% upload bytes.  I am not able to accomplish this step.

Few things to note.  I have extracted data.  However, in my data set, all the measures seen in this particular workbook are actually calculated fields which means I can't convert them to Dimensions as you would be able to do in this particular workbook.  Also Month of Connection Start is actual date dimension in real data set.  Just for the extract, it turns out to be string.

So I was able to get it right by doing the following.

• So I changed it to be % of Total MB (sum of % of Total Download Bytes and % of Total Upload Bytes) and % of Total Upload Bytes.  Thus faking one of the axis to be the summation to get the right height.
