thanks for the reply, but the problem is i want 'none' option instead of 'All' when no selection is made...
As mentioned, I don't think you can do that... without using parameters (Tableau Tip: Adding an “All” filter option to a string parameter ) but someone may prove me wrong
One for the Ideas section
It has come up before > can we customise filters ? need to add "None " option in quick filters
Best of luck!
problem is, i cant use parameter because my requirement is a multi-select filter.......
These are the steps you need to follow..
1.Click on the filter
3.deselect the show ALL option
4.change the filter to single drop down mode
5.you will see the default value present in the filter
6.Now Edit the filter
7. In the general tab you see all the values
8.you will also see ALL , NONE tabs..
9.click on None tab and
10.click on OK
11.Now your filter shows the default value as None.
Manu Mohan, Please mark the question as answered if you got what you want..thanks in advance.
thanks for the reply
but can you do these steps with 'exclude values' filter that is the problem....?
You cannot achieve both the condition in one go.Either opt " None" or "Exclude Values"
I need a solution to below scenario.
The tableau is built using row level security in the database. When a user login he will get the details of region he is able to see. There is also quick filters in the dashboard. Lets say there are 3 Region East, West, North. Now I will assign USER1 access to East and West Region. USER2 will access only North. USER3 will access all region. Since am admin I will have access to all 3 region. When I deploy the report I will default the quick filter to region East and deploy. I will not show (All) in the quick filter, I will make one value to select at one point of time. No multiple selection in the quick filter. Suppose USER1 login to the tableau, since he is able to access East Region he will see the data in the dashboard once he login. Now when USER2 Login to the tableau, he will not be able to see any data by default on the dashboard and in the quick filter it shows (All). Now USER2 has to go and select North Region in the quick filter to see data on the dashboard. But I want USER2 to see North Region by default. Any user login it should default the filter to any value.
This does work. But, it will work one time only. Once you select the value then you wont be able to go back to none.
Is it possible to show none when nothing is selected in single value dropdown?
