I noticed that your question has gone unanswered for a few weeks which can occur for a few reasons. Generally, questions that are thorough, clear, and contain screenshots/packaged workbooks are the most likely to receive responses. Keep in mind that sometimes even great questions fall through the cracks. If you are still experiencing the same issue, I recommend re-commenting on the post with more information or contacting firstname.lastname@example.org.
P.S. If you have found a solution to the issue, feel free to post it as a response to the thread. You may end up helping another user with the same issue.
We are actually experiencing the same message from time to time and maybe by pure coincidence it has only been since upgrading to Tableau 9. (9.0.3 to be exact) Wondering if anyone knows anything in particular that may cause it
We've just hit this error too after a v8.3.3 to v9.0.3 upgrade. Error occurring with a workbook that was working fine on Desktop & Server v8.3.3, but following upgrade is now erroring on v9.0.3 server and desktop.
Tracked the issue to be related to a field that was an adhoc grouping (created in Desktop via the right click field, create group option). Managed to get rid of the issue by recreating a new instance of the grouped field and using that on the affected views instead. We were getting the error sometimes along with an Invalid field [fieldname] message though the field the msg referred to appeared to be completely irrelevant/unrelated.
Don't yet know cause of issue. Am trying to see if I can get a workbook in a state that I can package up to send to support.
I was trying to create a parameter for usage in titles.
I created a Measure:
Then attempted to create a string parameter. First time I've seen this. Using 9.03.
