Do you mean that you would like to run Tableau Server on AWS? If so, we have some great resources:
No, I want to connect to AWS server database from Tableau desktop.
You'll need to be a little bit more specific - There is no such thing as an "AWS Server Database".
AWS supports many different cloud-hosted databases (Redshift, SimpleDB, SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle and more). You need to tell us which one.
Once you know what database you need to connect to, you can probably just Google "Connect Tableau <database>" and you'll find what you need.
Hope this helps.
I am trying to connect to an Oracle Database hosted in AWS and unsuccessful. I have the IP Address, Port and the SID and user credentials. I am able to connect to the same DB from the local desktop through an Oracle SQL developer which would mean I have no access issues.
Can you please help?
Is the necessary SQL port opened in the Security Group of AWS? Can you let us know what error you are getting when connecting in Tableau, that would help us.
The error message I get has something to do with TNS names. Do I need to update my tns.ora file to connect to my Oracle DB on AWS?
Heya Ryan -
Not trying to be a prig, but you should actually post the entire error message, otherwise people are going to be guessing. Make it easy for people to help you
Depending on the values you're putting into the Oracle connection dialog, the answer might be "yes", and it might be "no" - so give us all the info...and maybe even the TNSNames.Ora file on your system itself.
