Is your SQL Server running? Can you connect to it from the machine on which Tableau Server is running?
Thanks for reply. If I connect to it from the machine on which Tableau Server is running then it is working fine ..
but once I accessed another system Database then it showing me error.
Please help me to resolve this issue .
Forget Tableau Server for the moment:
- On the same machine, are you able to connect to this SQL Server using Tableau Desktop?
- If so, can you connect to all databases on the server?
- If so, are you using standard or NT security for credentials? (
Once you've established that you can connect to SQL Server from Desktop and you publish a sample workbook to Tableau Server is it then and only then that things break? Try again, this time using a standard SQL Server username and password. Still fail?
Many thanks for the reply.
I'm able to connect Analysis server on machine where tableau desktop is installed.
and able to create report using database but can not use parametrized with this database.
I'm using window authentication.
You were initially posting about connecting to a (relational) SQL Server in a report running in Tableau Server. I was responding to that problem.
However, in the second message you start connecting to SQL Server Analysis Services (again in Tableau Server).
The problem you're now talking about:
"and able to create report using database but can not use parametrized with this database."
seems to be happening in Desktop...
So, I'm confused. Is your problem that a report running on Tableau Server can't connect to a data source? Which one?
Is your problem that you can't "use parametrized with this database." in Tableau Desktop?
It seems like you're mixing different problems together here. Please advise.
Actually I'm creating report using Analysis server database. but once i publish the report to server then it gives me error
I goggled the issue I found below link for solution
Now I installed the related drivers at server now I'm getting this issue.
So Issue is same and it is still a big problem for me ..
Even If I used another server Sql server database not analysis I'm not able to publish the report on server.
Then I get this error
In any of case I'm not able to publish my report from desktop to server.
Hope this is clear now ..
Please help me.
OK. Did you hard-code (“embed”) a Windows UserName & Password that has access to the cube when you published the report? Or does the Windows Account that Tableau Server is running under (we call it the “Run As” account) have access to the cube?
Please use SQL Profiler to verify which account is trying to connect to the cube itself on the SSAS side, and then make sure that account has permissions on the SSAS database and cube
I had a similar problem and sometimes using a DNS doesn't work when publishing to Tableau Server. Are you using a DNS in the connection information or the IP address of the server?
If you're using a DNS try the IP address of the server and see if it works
Good thought. Could very well be a DNS issue.
Many thanks for help.. yes DNS was the issue.
