Calculate YoY change when one year is filtered out

**** everyone, I have looked over the forum, hope I haven't missed the answer to this one...I would be very grateful for help.

I have a databsse with adspends for several companies over two year. How can I show the YoY change in the tooltip

if I am only showing only one year (the preceding one is filtered out?). I want the user to be able to see one year's absolute value

and then YoY change in the tooltip. What calculation would I need?

Hi Marcin,

Since YoY change is a table calculation you need to Hide the previous year instead of filtering it out.

Use right click on appropriate column/row header -> hide.

Hope this helps,

Matthew Lutton helped me a great deal with a similar problem, in short it is not possible the way you want it. However, you can get pretty close with his solution. See here: How to calculate year on year difference withou... | Tableau Support Community

Hi Marcin,

Here u go...(SUM([2014-YTD])-SUM([2013-YTD]))/SUM([2013-YTD])

Thanks

Thank you guys for responding, all of those methods hold water, I went creating a calculated field that only had values for a gvien year, the summing them up and dividing the sums for each company (like Fareed suggested)

Cheers, thanks, M

Hi Jarek,

I have the same problem , but here when I hide the column  I can not use grand total . When I use grand total the column that I hide appears again

Is their any other way to hide it ?
