Tableau Public really doesn't have a "refresh" capability - unless you mean you're overwriting your "old" workbook with a "new" version which contains more data. If this is what you're talking about then the issue probably has to do with caching - Tableau Public caches just as much as it possibly can for scalability's sake. I'd guess that you happened to hit your "old" workbook, which was still in cache.
I'd try the following:
- Publish/Overwrite your "old" workbook
- Logout of Public
- Close your browser (this will force a new session to get created)
- Hit Public again. Do you see your new stuff?
Hi Russell – Yes, I don’t mean an automatic refresh but rather just new data. I changed data or added data to my Excel documents and hit refresh and it didn’t work…I also sometimes copied and pasted data in as the data source and it doesn’t appear that it refreshes easily.
I will try what you suggested below.
right click the data source on the top-left, and click refresh there. that usually does the trick. or you can try from the data drop down menu at the very top also.
