1. Re: Is it possible to color code the various columns?
Aiswarya Sundaram Nov 18, 2013 3:44 AM (in response to Aayush Anand)Hi Aayush,
Try the following steps,
->Right click on the desired field/column name and select format from the menu.
->In the Axis tab, under default section select Shading and choose the color you want. For changing the font, select the Font option. If you wish to give a different font style for your title alone you can change it in the Title section.
For other columns, you can use the 'Fields' drop-down on the top right to select them and repeat the above steps.
Hope this answers your question.
Cheers!

2. Re: Is it possible to color code the various columns?
Eric McDonald Nov 18, 2013 3:55 AM (in response to Aayush Anand)From a design perspective you really need to question why you would need a different font on each column. This could be extremely confusing for users particularly with 7 columns. The Knowledge Base Knowledge Base | Tableau Software is a useful source of what you can do.

3. Re: Is it possible to color code the various columns?
occtimap Nov 18, 2013 5:42 AM (in response to Aayush Anand)I have tried to do this in the past and unfortunately, Tableau would color code the whole row according to a rule
It would be so nice to be able to color code each column/row separately;
To give a example: you would do a conditional formatting in Excel on any column you want
I have created a simple data file; does someone know how to create the following rule?
The cell gets
-green if > 12
-orange if > 9
-red otherwise
Thank you all

Murali Govindu Nov 18, 2013 6:37 AM (in response to Shawn Wallwork)Hi Shawn, it is a nice link, kudos to Andy. Is there anyway that Andy or someone can update how to develop the key element on the dashboard to get this desired cell-level coloring? I wish the Author here comes up with his caption - explanation on how to achieve this briefly, however, I cannot reach him.
Thanks again,

7. Re: Is it possible to color code the various columns?
Murali Govindu Nov 18, 2013 7:36 AM (in response to occtimap)The closest to what you need is as below, you can further try to tweak this calc. field and get your desired results. For the easy part, just try not to give ranges!
Also, it is good to open a new thread as you can have better control over the thread You can always refer your thread link here for the attention or elsewhere you think fit.

Aayush Anand Nov 18, 2013 8:03 AM (in response to Shawn Wallwork)Shawan,
This is helpful, but I was looking to color the column names itself. Looks like an elementary problem.
