Thanks for the reply. I did follow the document. it did not work . Find the error below -
"Unable to connect to the ODBC Data Source. Check that the necessary drivers are installed and that the connection properties are valid.
[MapR][Hardy] (22) Error from ThriftHiveClient: Could not resolve host for client socket.
Unable to connect to the server "ip-172-31-34-71.us-west-2.compute.internal". Check that the server is running and that you have access privileges to the requested database.

My Hive 0.11.0 is set up in Amazon and I downloaded MapR Hive ODBC Connector 2.0 (32-bit) for the connection.
In the server name I gave the Private IP address of the master node also tried public DNS name. It didnt work either way.
I am trying in the free trail of Tbleau 8.0 which is valid only for 14 days. So help in this regard would be appreciated
The latest MapR driver from Hive ODBC Connector - Latest Documentation - doc.mapr.com is unfortunately not currently compatible with Tableau. They made some changes and we have not had time to throroughly test and support it yet. The recommended driver is still available at http://package.mapr.com/tools/MapR-ODBC/MapR_odbc_2.0.0_x86.exe
I believe this will work for Hive 0.11 though it won't support all the authentication options of the newer driver.
This driver isn't working for me either. Do I need to use 32 bit tableau when using this driver?
It might not be an issue with the driver but an issue with the connection to the server. I am not technically well-versed in this area but I have noticed that I get this particular error message when I am not properly connected to the appropriate VPN. Once I am connected to the correct VPN, I am able to connect to Hive with Tableau without any issues. I would suggest to make sure you are connected to the appropriate wired network or VPN to connect to the Hadoop server. Reaching out to your Hadoop server administrator and/or support team will help.
Hope this helps.
