# Help with reverese running total for a count distinct

I am curious to do a reverse running total with a time column dimension similar to the text table in  http://community.tableau.com/thread/121168?start=0&tstart=0. Any help would be appreciated!

This is going to be so highly dependant on your data format and what you want to achieve - can you post a tbwx with mocked up desired result?

What Alex said, but of course I am so tired of saying that I just went ahead and created a workbook to get the conversation going. Also I wrote this before seeing Alex's post...

There are many factors involved in how you do this. If the time pill is continuous (green), you should be able to right-click it and then click the 'Reversed' option. If it's a discrete pill, use a -INDEX() and place it as a discrete pill in front of the time pill. After that you can check off the 'Show Header' to get rid of the index numbers.

(See attaches).

This is the table I am referring to in attached workbook under the TextTable sheet. I want a reverse running count total 16 would have a value 1, 11 would have a value of 2, 9 would have a value of 3, 8 would have a value of 4, 7 would have a value of 8..etc. I want this by month for Text Table Month.

Thanks!!!!

Alex, let's make a deal, you take this one, and I'll stick with answering Jessica's Q. OK?
