I don't see how to switch views based on the quick filter selection , but you can create a single parameter that will be used in the Date filtering AND in the Axis formatting.
In the attached i have a parameter allowing to select a bunch of options ( Quartely - Current Year,.... Daily - Last 14 days...etc..)
This way i can force the user to use a mix of range and formatting that always fits in the view, so i can control that the labels and the axis names are always readable in the Dashboard.
Here i use the same parameter to format the Date axis , but if you prefer to use the view swapping technique , you can create multiple sheets with a specific calculated filter for each sheet , returning 1 for the parameter selection corresponding to the desired axis and 0 for the others , and filtering on 1 .
note: i cheating on the filter calculation since there is no 2013 data in the superstore file.
Jack,I am not sure how much it will help however here i have a template which can change the axis to month / year based on a parameter.
I have 2 additional parameters 1 for latest business date and other for selecting the interval. I still need to tune the month calculation part bit more.

Thank you both for the helpful replies - We ended up changing our requirements because we liked the look and feel of the Relative Date quick filter widget.
@Michel I began implementing your answer and it was the closest to what I was looking for, thanks for your effort.
