    Map doesn't appear on web site. Script too old?

    Misa Gray

      Hello, I posted a map on a web page. The map was previously made by other person and it doesn't show up on the web page. The javascript link says javascripts/api/viz_v1.js. Is that too old to run now? Thanks for your help!

          Nope, should work fine assuming you can download the js file. Does the rest of the viz display?

            No, nothing appears. Does this happen when the account is not active any longer, etc.? I didn't create the map so I am not sure .... Or is it because of https?

              I think you'll need to bring your web developer in on this. I'm looking at the HTML behind your page, and the part that "embeds" the Tableau visualization doesn't look complete to me.

              Here's what I see:

              <script src="http://public.tableausoftware.com/javascripts/api/viz_v1.js" type="text/javascript">

              <div class="tableauPlaceholder" style="width: 934px; height: 1269px;">
              <noscript><a href="#"><img alt="PEOPLES Resilience Framework - Mapping Recovery in Haiti " src="http:&#47;&#47;public.tableausoftware.com&#47;static&#47;images&#47;PE&#47;PEOPLESResilienceforHaitiRecovery&#47;HaitiRecoveryDashboard&#47;1_rss.png" style="border: none" /></a></noscript>

              <p> </p>

              Here's what the average working embed code looks like:

              <script type="text/javascript" src="http://public.tableausoftware.com/javascripts/api/viz_v1.js"></script>

              <div class="tableauPlaceholder" style="width:1445px; height:821px;"><noscript><a href="#"><img alt="Sheet 1 " src="http:&#47;&#47;public.tableausoftware.com&#47;static&#47;images&#47;2p&#47;2pipelines_0&#47;Sheet1&#47;1_rss.png" style="border: none" /></a></noscript><object class="tableauViz" width="1445" height="821" style="display:none;"><param name="host_url" value="http%3A%2F%2Fpublic.tableausoftware.com%2F" /><param name="site_root" value="" /><param name="name" value="2pipelines_0&#47;Sheet1" /><param name="tabs" value="no" /><param name="toolbar" value="yes" /><param name="static_image" value="http:&#47;&#47;public.tableausoftware.com&#47;static&#47;images&#47;2p&#47;2pipelines_0&#47;Sheet1&#47;1.png" /><param name="animate_transition" value="yes" /><param name="display_static_image" value="yes" /><param name="display_spinner" value="yes" /><param name="display_overlay" value="yes" /><param name="display_count" value="yes" /></object></div><div style="width:1445px;height:22px;padding:0px 10px 0px 0px;color:black;font:normal 8pt verdana,helvetica,arial,sans-serif;"><div style="float:right; padding-right:8px;"><a href="http://www.tableausoftware.com/public/about-tableau-products?ref=http://public.tableausoftware.com/views/2pipelines_0/Sheet1" target="_blank">Learn About Tableau</a></div></div>

              Note how there's much more "stuff" in my code? That stuff is important. Your code is completely missing all the information in the <object> tag (I put that stuff in bold). The parameters inside the object code tell us WHAT to render in your page and HOW. Without that information, nothing will happen.

              The code I see in your page will never work. If it did at one point, I'd guess that someone deleted part of it by mistake while making a page update. You or your web folks should be able to re-embed pretty easily, though. Follow these instructions:

              Sharing Views | Tableau Public

              Good luck!

                Thanks, Russell. I think, in the process of re-setting up this page, the codes got lost or were not saved. Or it could be server security issue .. I'll contact the person who created the Tableau map and the server guys. Thanks! You helped me a lot.
