I've been working on some new Tableau 8 dashboards for a client and there seem to be some limitations in the dashboard formatting that I'm not sure if others know how to get around, or if there's a disconnect between the tool description and the actual function.
My issue is this:
I format the overall Dashboard shading to 'None' and format my floating legend as having a shading of 0% from white.
But this still gives me a background on the legend and any text/subtitles I attempt to apply the same rules to also have backgrounds.
Is it possible to have truly transparent items on my Tableau 8 dashboard or does every element have to have a background of some sort?
Fiona, short answer: Tableau does NOT support transparency, [yet]. Also in many cases T's 'none' actually means light-blue. If you want backgrounds, or lines, or whatever, to completely go away, change them all to white (or the color of your background).
