This may not be the “proper way” to fix this but it will work.
Add another TerritoryNumber from the dimensions to the Marks shelf in the text box. You’ll see this info twice now, should be side by side. Next, on the rows shelf, in the drop down the menu on TerritoryNumber, uncheck “Show Header”. Now only one TerritoryNumber will show. You will still see “drop field here” on the worksheet but it will not appear on the dashboard.
Hi Christina, thanks for the tip. I tried it but it still showed up for some reason.
Does anyone else by any chance know how to eliminate this column? I'm sure there has to be a way to delete/hide it.
Hopefully one of the Tableau Jedi's will know... they are wonderful!
I'm no Jedi, just a Padawan ;-)
Having your workbook to play with would help, however, try this:
Create a Calculated Field named "Territory_Number". The formula for it is "" (two double-quotes side-by-side). Click the OK button.
Drag your Territory_Number into the Text pill in the Marks pane.
Drag your Territory_Number into the Columns shelf.
Right-click on the Territory_Number displayed at the top of the column in your report and change the font color to white.
If you want, move your cursor over the right-most border of the Territory_Number column in the report and drag the border all the way to the left, effectively reducing the column width to almost zero (you won't be able to completely eliminate it).
That should work since it appears that you want your last column to be "TerritoryNumber".
Is this still the current solution? I find it hard to accept this 'workaround' (aka kludge, no offense to you Toby). There must be a cleaner way to remove the "Drop Column" column!
