that's not really the issue I'm having. I'm able to populate the list from the field already. But I need to have an "All" value in the list as well. That way you can still see a total for every day of the month combined. so you would have days 1 through 31, with All at the top.
I hope you are using a calculated boolean field to have the effect of the parameter in the filter.
In that calculated filed use the calculation as
If [Datefield] = [Date parameter] then TRUE
Elseif [Date parameter] = 01/01/1900 Then True
Yes, I have a Year Parameter and a Month parameter, then for each different date I have a year(year parameter) = year(date field) filter set to true and a month(month parameter) = month(date field) filter set to true. For each of those parameters 1/1/1900 will show totals for all years or all months accordingly. But when I have a Day of month parameter, 1/1/1900 won't function that way because it's just being read as the first of the month.
So I need the user to be able to see Sales(for example) by day of month, 1 through 31, but also need a value in the parameter list that will let them see a sum of sales for every day in the month.
I am not following, if you only want to have 1 to 31 + All (32 entries), then why don't you just create a string parameter with 1 to 31 + "All"?
Will that work for dates? I hadn't considered that was a possibility, I've been using just a date parameter. What would the formula be for using a string to filter day of the month?
First crate Day field
Day = DATENAME('day', [datefield])
String Parameter as list for the days 1 to 31 and All say DayP.
Calculated field for using the parameter in the view as filter.
Dayfilter as below
IF Day = DayP Then TRUE
ELSEIF DayP = 'All' THEN TRUE
ELSE FALSE END.
Use Dayfilter field in filter and select only TRUE.
That worked a treat! Thank you!
