Enable the calculated field function of Desktop in browser authoring. There may have to be some governers set of this function because processing is happening outside of the client potentially - so for example, if the server execution time is > [x] seconds, or the function returns [y] rows of data then the request would either be limited or a notification sent indicating this is too much data to return.
