Last week, Alexander Mou submitted the idea "Highlighting Syntax Words in Formula Editor".

He suggests highlighting the syntax words like Case, When, Then, End etc.

The result should look like this

Talking about visualization ... This will differentiate user-input texts from Tableau-defined syntactic words. It will make the formula easier to read and to debug.

Do you agree with Alexander and the 10 other community members who voted Yes?

Nick Zhao asked a question about Tableau Sorting and using another measure to help break a tie.  User Luciano Vasconcelos and Rajeev Pandey responded to assist.  Luciano built two rank() fields on different measures and added these as Discrete values on the Rows shelf in front of the Name field to sort the view.  For those wondering how to do this yourself, you can hide those ranked fields in the view by turning off the "Show Headers" option from the drop down of each ranked field on the Rows shelf.  Thanks for the great tip and help Luciano.

Stephen Lynch asked was having some issues getting Tableau to recognize Formatting Date Time from an Excel file. Mark Fraser, corey levinson, and kettan helped to troubleshoot the issue. Though Stephen still hasn't quite figured out the cause as to why Tableau keeps turning the date time into a string, he was able to figure out that case matters when using the dateparse function! Takeaway: "mmm" won't be recognized, it needs to be "MMM."

Thanks to William Bohn and the community for bringing Publish Failure - Error Reading Archive File to our attention. Our devs have jumped on the issue and are working through solving it. The fix they had in place took longer than expected. They should have an update on this later today. In the meantime, if you run into the issue, please share the requested information (text of error message, size of extract, connection type, and version/what you published from) in a support case.

Happy Monday everyone! I hope today has treated you all well as we gear up for another exciting week in the forums. To kick us off, let's take a look at today in history! Today in 1988 my favorite (NL) team the Chicago Cubs hosted their first night game after 74 seasons of day games. While the game was a 5-inning rain-out, the Cubs' relationship with night games provides an interesting debate even today.

Morgan DUARTE asked a question to find the Delta Price calculation between sale prices for two given years. Ashish Chaudhari and Mahfooj Khan provided a couple of calculations that got close, but didn't quite solve the problem. Mark Fraser then came in with some insight about there being multiple records for each data. This helped move the ball a little closer to the finish line, and helped Morgan on his way.
