Lindsay O'Keefe was having trouble Displaying a date as mm:ss. Rody Zakovich helped Lindsay and learned a couple things along the way from Jonathan Drummey about having mm:ss as a measure (by changing the formatting). Ultimately, kettan provided Lindsay with a calculation that got Lindsay the results she was looking for!

phuviet.pham asked How to sort the Date column in descending order. At first, it seemed like Phuviet just needed to change the field type from a string to a date, however, that was returning nulls for him. With the help of Felix Curran and Bora Beran, he created a calculation using dateparse. However, he learned that this function can only be used with certain data sources, and thus he needed to create an extract.

This is an oldie, but goodie. Mark Jackson again used his creative expertise and shared how to Make your own custom Tableau Server landing page. This post has gotten 37 replies and 32 likes, and is a fabulous resource to making the Tableau Server page more accessible for people in an organization.

Jay Chang needed help getting the Last N Calendar Months. Joey Minix and Rody Zakovich discussed a few different options, including using table calculations, different calculations and blending a complete list of months with the original data set in order for Jay to be able to show all months regardless of whether it the month was null or not. Ultimately, it looks like Jay will need to create another table in his DB and do a left join.

Rody Zakovich started an excellent thread - Let's talk about dashboard design! Talk about a great post! It inspired a bunch of people to reply and share their perspectives. With 42 replies, there are some very detailed posts and great takeaways worth noting and maybe adopting. This is one to check out and bookmark, if you haven't already.

You may have noticed that some of your points haven't been appearing on your profile. We've noticed it to and want to give you an update. There is a glitch with the "gamification console" - so the points and badges are not being delivered when they should be. We'll be doing an update to the console later this week that should hopefully fix the issue. Our apologies for this and for any confusion/frustration it may have caused! The good news, however, is that the points and badges are being recorded and should therefore be pushed out once the fix is made. Thank you for your patience and again our apologies.

If you haven't already, sign up for TDT: Tableau in the Cloud with Diamonds on July 16th, 2015 at 8am PST next week. There will be a panel of Tableau employees, so be sure to join to ask any of your Tableau Online questions!

And speaking of Think Data Thursday, we've started posting the videos to our YouTube channel as another way to find them: Featured: Think Data Thursday - YouTube

Cal Ross asked how to find a particular Calculated field output to make a histogram - and what a response he got! Joe Oppelt helped Cal get the bins set up as he wanted, however, he called in Jonathan Drummey to get some clarification of why one particular approach did not work, And what a response he gave - very thorough! From self-data blends to LOD calcs, this is definitely a thread worth bookmarking!

Back in 2012, Julius Concepcion posted a thread wondering if Hexbins for visualizing million+ data points had been done in Tableau. Richard Leeke played with this quite a bit and came close. In March of this year, Alan Eldridge continued the conversation, and posted his blog posts where he recreated the hexbin function in Tableau 9.

In 2012, Nathan Schofield created the Default Value for Quick Filters idea and it has received more than 5 votes this past week - and over 23 in the last 30 days. Hopefully, this idea comes to fruition - I've upvoted it too!
