Ijaz Ahamed Meeran Abdul Jabbar asked Is there a way we can calculate running total without table calculation? Bora Beran offered a couple of potential solutions using custom SQL and converting a table to SQL. However, it turned out, Ijaz's databases were two different DB's and he was going to need to do some blending. Joey Minix provided a hacky workaround of doing a forecast with a table calc. Ijaz, let us know if any of the solutions worked for you!

phuviet.pham posted How to sum distinct Status two weeks ago, but it gained a lot of attention continuing into last week. Rody Zakovich and Simon Runc provided a couple solutions using table calculations and changing how the calculations were run. Matt Lutton suggested using LOD expressions which brought on a whole slew of conversation about how they work, etc. Bora Beran again jumped in and provided some additional context. Phuviet, let us know which response solved your issue by marking it as correct!

Brad Nelson created the idea Request for a graph:  Network graphs in December 2014. It received 13 of it's 25 votes in the last week. Must be an uptick in the need for this idea - certainly Brad would appreciate any additional votes

There's always a big parade with body painted bike riders, floats, and dancers. In the Community, there wasn't quite as much excitement, but always lots of content. Here's a look into what happened last week in the Community -

Omar Luna asked for some help with "Computing view layout" issue. He has a workbook with 2,300 map images and it was causing an issue when he would open it up. Jeff Strauss came up with a couple of suggestions that would point to the images on a server, but Omar didn't have access to the web for his presentation. Tom W took a stab of playing with the workbook and presented Omar with a couple of options that hopefully improved the experience. Omar, let us know if it helped by marking one their answers correct! Or let us know if you found another solution - hope the presentation went well!

Shijin got a number of responses from different people, Jeff Strauss, Sai Manikanta N, Alexander Mou and Jonathan Drummey. Alexander put a solution up on Tableau Public that helped Shijin get closer, but ultimately, Jonathan's detailed response got him closest to the answer he needed even though his company is not yet on Tableau 9.0.

**This is characterized by the number of responses in a thread

I am a big fan of last week's most talked about thread - mostly because it just shows how much this Community cares about getting answers to people. Shawn Wallwork started Crow's Nest Love: Pay It Forward! to enlist people to get at least a response to people. Many of the Tableau Ambassadors, as well as Jeff Strauss, kettan, Ken Patton and Chris McClellan have stepped up to take the challenge

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Crow's Nest, it is a place to go to find unanswered questions. The viz at the top shows questions that haven't gotten a response (note, the viz is only refreshed once a day, so it's not real time, but still a pretty good indication). By hovering over each of the squares, you can see the title of the post and the go to the post if you'd like to try to answer it.

Below the viz are real time questions that may have responses, but they have not been marked as "Correct" or "Assumed Answered." Another reason to mark your answers as correct - so others know you don't need help!

This is an old one - The specified item was not found. posted in 2008 by a guest contributor who is no longer a registered member of the Community. However, it is a valid question that comes up from time to time, and the thread still continues. Most recently, Saumil Kapadia asked for some clarification on the calculation James Baker provided, and Shawn Wallwork gave him a step by step explanation.

Top Voted Idea

Last week's top voted idea was created only last week by kettan and received 13 votes already, Parameter Hierarchy. This looks a lot like the way filters work when using a cube data source. I like this idea!
